- 1975: The founding brothers left the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul for Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, refining their craft and shaping the Fogo concept.
- 1979: The first Fogo de Chão opened in Porto Alegre, built from a humble wood structure and driven by a dedication to quality, culture, and family heritage.
- 1987: Fogo gained widespread acclaim, attracting politicians, business leaders, and celebrities. A second location opened in São Paulo to meet growing demand.
- 1997: Fogo made its U.S. debut in Dallas, Texas, introducing American diners to the authentic Rodízio experience.
Continued Growth and Innovation
From 1997 to 2013, Fogo de Chão expanded rapidly, opening 29 new locations across Brazil and the U.S. In 2013, the flagship location in New York City was unveiled, featuring a stunning three-story design and the iconic bas-relief sculpture of O Laçador, a tribute to Porto Alegre’s heritage.
A Culinary Legacy
Fogo de Chão’s culinary team has continued to innovate while honoring Brazilian traditions. In 2013, they introduced seafood dishes and launched the Bar Fogo concept, offering Brazilian-inspired small plates, craft cocktails, and award-winning wines.
